Missa Pange Lingua

A paraphrase Mass on the lesser-known Corpus Christi chant, commissioned by Archbishop Cordileone and first sung on Pentecost 2024 at the Cathedral of St. Mary of the Assumption, San Francisco, at the Mass that opened the St. Junípero Serra route of the National Eucharistic Pilgrimage. The Kyrie and Agnus Dei invite the congregation to sing.
Its full title is Missa Pange Lingua: A Mass for Eucharistic Renaissance. Frank and Sally Hanna were its patrons. At the premiere on May 19, 2024, more than 2,500 people filled the cathedral before processing across the Golden Gate Bridge; the Schola Benedictus XVI sang under Alfred Calabrese and EWTN carried the Mass live.
